Tuhituhi - Adding Detail to our Writing

This week Whanau19 learnt some new writing skills. We were lucky enough to have both Whaea Arna and Ms MacKenzie running writing workshops.

Here is the writing we are most proud of:

Kōanga Spring

Wow, how time flies! Last week we went out to observe the different signs of the seasons. Our trees had changed so much! There were blossoms and Kōwhai flowers on the trees, and Tui feeding off the nectar. We hung some traps in the trees to see what pests were flying about. Today we went back and visited them. Over the next couple of months, we will collect the data and see what disruptive pests we can catch.

What do you see? What is the same? What is different?

Terrific Tuesday

Ko tēnei te rā e whitu o ngā ra o Mahuru.

Yay! We are moving to Level 2 - this means I will be able to see your smiling faces in the classroom very soon.

Once again thank you so much for the akomahi you are posting on seesaw. Remember you can also send me pictures (atao@hameast.school.nz) and I can add them to our blog or seesaw. Here are some examples of our home learning:

A WORMS EYE VIEW:

I feel so small and the grass tickles my face. When the grass tickles my face it makes me happy and I laugh. If I was a worm I think the dirt is tasteless. It might smell like the green waste dump. I can hear lawnmowers coming and that scares me. Beau

Giraffe or Monkey?

What a sight to see a giraffe hanging in a tree. I wonder how he got there and what he can see. I bet he is feeling scared all the way up there. I wonder if there is a cheetah or a lion hunting somewhere. Will he hear the birds singing in the trees. Will he put his tongue out and feel the breeze. I hope he makes it safely down from the tree and decides being a monkey is not all it seems to be. Caitlin

Once upon a time, I wished for all the water to be replaced with gummy bears for my birthday!!!!!!!!!! My wish was granted and when I turned the tap on I saw gummy bears pouring out. They smelled so good! I put my hands in and felt the squishy gummy bears. I put a whole mouthful in my mouth and they taste good. It was the best day ever!!!! Elijah

The gummy tap makes me feel uncomfortable because I normally see water. The taste makes me feel sick because I don't like green ones. Seeing all of that sugar makes me feel hypo. I can hear the clumps as they hit. I can't smell clean water... but sure can smell sugar! Zoe

DR Hanker got on a ship on a lovely day. On the ship, DR Hanker pulled out his UP powder and opened the lid. He didn't know he was allergic to it. Ahh ahh ahh ah-choo!!!!! The powder got all over the ship. SUDDENLY, the ship started to go UP!!!! Not just one but all of the ships were. The people tied it to some wood and DR Hanker got put in jail. Mackenzie

Ok, so one time our car for some reason got stuck in a tree and we were in the tree for hours, and hours, and hours, and hours. Until finally our car came down from the tree. But then we fell into another tree, and another, and another, and another, and so on. Then we finally landed on the ground. everyone was ok. But our car was the total opposite and so we left our car there and got a taxi home. Ted

Banana cake

It tastes close to bananas and it was very yummy in my tum tum. It smells like banana and nana's hands. I felt excited when nana said I could have a try to make a cake and eat it. Elise
